Best Bank Branches in Coquitlam for Newcomers
Newcomer-friendly bank branches in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam. Multilingual service, new-to-Canada banking, and SkyTrain access.

Coquitlam has grown a lot in the past few years, and with the Evergreen Extension making it easy to get to from downtown Vancouver, more newcomers are settling here. The banking options are solid, especially around Coquitlam Centre and Lougheed Town Centre.
Best Branches in the Tri-Cities
RBC — Coquitlam Centre, 2929 Barnet Highway
Inside Coquitlam Centre mall, steps from the Evergreen Line's Lincoln station. RBC offers the full newcomer package with 12 months free chequing. Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean-speaking staff available. The mall location means easy parking and extended hours.
TD Canada Trust — 1163 Pinetree Way
Near Coquitlam Centre on Pinetree Way. TD's New to Canada package gives you 6 months free chequing. This branch is modern and usually not too busy on weekday mornings.
Scotiabank — Lougheed Town Centre, 9855 Austin Ave
At Lougheed Town Centre (Lougheed station on the Millennium/Evergreen Line). Scotiabank's StartRight program is a 12-month free deal. Good Korean and Mandarin service at this location — Lougheed has a big Korean community nearby.
CIBC — 1110 Austin Ave, Coquitlam
A standalone branch on Austin Ave. CIBC's newcomer package includes a no-deposit credit card. Staff speak Mandarin and Korean. Free parking lot.
Coast Capital Savings — 2991 Lougheed Hwy, Port Coquitlam
If you're in PoCo, this credit union offers free chequing for everyone — no newcomer promo needed, it's just free. Fewer branches than the Big Five but solid online banking.
Coquitlam vs. Port Coquitlam vs. Port Moody
Most banking is concentrated around Coquitlam Centre and Lougheed Town Centre. Port Moody has a few branches on Clarke Road but limited newcomer services. Port Coquitlam's branches on Shaughnessy Street are fine for basic banking but go to Coquitlam Centre for newcomer-specific help.
