Does anyone else conjure up memories or scenarios when they are drinking, or eating, something? It could be the dreamer in me, but I always have an association for nearly every food and drink. For example, an Italian dish takes me back to my honeymoon dining in the streets of Florence. Fish tacos remind me of casual lunches in Southern California. Or, if I don’t have a personal connection yet, I make up one instead. For this Honey Bourbon Lemonade, I have a specific picture in my head.
A hot summer day, lounging in a rocking chair on the porch. Sipping a tall glass filled to the brim with an icy refreshing lemonade cocktail. The sun is shining, we’re sharing some laughs, snacking on finger foods, and enjoying long summer days.
This is the exact scenario I aim to capure with these drinks.
The inspiration for this came from a similar experience. We did, in fact, have a bourbon lemonade beverage, sitting outside on a porch of sorts. It was hot, Texas hot, and we shared lots of laughs and good memories.
The version we had previously was a bit fancier. They used dehydrated lime slices and another mix in or two. And it was delicious, so we knew we had to recreate it at home.
Yet we also craved something a little simpler. Quicker to prepare, without any added sugar, and it would still remind us of that original flavor, and experience.
So here we have your end of the season staple. Easily made for 2 or 12, and you can even quickly whip up a pitcher for an impromptu gathering.
Then you can begin creating your own experience that reminds you of this satisfying and refreshing sunshine in a glass.
Or, dream up your own fantasy. Then go make it happen. It is time to take advantage of the last few weeks of summer and everything it signifies.
And let’s not forget the Vitamin D. Especially for us in the Midwest, we literally need to soak up the sun before it disappears. Why not do so while sipping a tasty drink?
